I want my images to scream at me. Sometimes quietly and poetically

About

Who is Chuck Ärlund?

Chuck Ärlund:

As an Artist and Photographer hailing from a suburb of Nashville, TN, I am Chuck Ärlund. My constant pursuit is to explore new avenues of visual expression. With a fascination for observation, I earned my Masters of Fine Art from Watkins at Belmont University in 2020, concentrating on Christian themed work dealing with human ego, shame and humility.

My professional portfolio revolves around photographing musicians, primarily connected album cover art and media coverage. Every photoshoot and image captured is a testament to my commitment to the art of photography and my continuous exploration of diverse visual realms.

Chuck's journey into photography began at the age of 8, but it wasn't until high school that he embraced it as a form of expression, transitioning from realistic drawing & painting that he had a hard time perfecting. Fascinated by photographers Herb Ritts and Robert Mapplethorpe, Chuck adopted a European fine art fashion style.

Post-high school, he pursued dreams of rock stardom, using his time in bands to capture musicians and fans through his lens. Moving from Kansas City to Tennessee at 24, he earned a degree in Recording Industry business, interning at I/V Records (Warner Bros subsidiary).

Returning to Kansas City, Chuck worked as a commercial photographer for the Kansas City Star while also leading web design for the United Methodist Church. In 2000, he opened his photography studio, focusing on weddings and becoming a prominent figure in Nashville's wedding photography scene during the 2000s.

Recognized for his expertise, Chuck began leading workshops and teaching at renowned photographic events like WPPI, PPA schools, and DWF conventions. This teaching journey led to his role as an adjunct professor of photography at O'More College of Design, & Middle Tennessee State University and teaching continuing education at Belmont University where he continues to inspire budding photographers.
